Pat Ekpakohak
Ulukhaktok
Pat Ekpakohak, a Ulukhaktok artist, was born in 1946. He creates fine carvings from Caribou antlers, Muskox horns and bone. The images depicted in his unique pieces reflect the elements of everyday Inuit life on Victoria Island: Caribou on yearly migration paths, Muskox grazing, and Sandhill Cranes which nest each year on the island.
In 1995, Patrick was included in the exhibition and accompanying publication called, “Keeping Our Stories Alive: An Exhibition of the Art and Crafts from Dene and Inuit of Canada” which was held at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
