Inuit Native Artist Pavinaq Petaulassie from Cape Dorset

Born October 8, 1961 in Cape Dorset, Pavinaq Petaulassie’s father is the late Aggeak Petaulassie who was also a carver. His mother Timangiak creates drawings, prints and sculptures. He has two brothers Qatsiya, and Etidloie who is a well known and respected carver.

Pavinaq loves to carve Bears and enjoys depicting multiple images from Baffin Island serpentine stone. He learned his skill as a carver by watching the master sculptors.

Outside of creating beautiful sculptures, Pavinaq loves the land and spends time hunting and fishing.
