Amy Edgars
Haida Nation
Amy Edgars comes from a distinguished line of argillite artists, and her father Myles Edgars is a well-known Haida carver from Queen Charlotte City in Old Massett on the Haida Gwaii Islands.
She has been an artist since the tender age of 16, and it was her father who inspired her to pursue argillite carving. Now in her mid-twenties (2013), her work has already been collected internationally.
Amy is making quite a name for herself, and has created a second career by passing along her knowledge through teaching so the next generation of artists can apprentice through her expertise.

Dorsal Fin Pendant
Amy Edgars
SOLDArgillite
This pendant depicts the dorsal fin of a Killerwhale. In Northwest Coast oral tradition, the Killerwhale is a powerful underwater hunter. It is also considered to be the sea manifestation of the land Wolf. Killerwhales are commonly known to mate and guard their family for a lifetime. As a crest symbol, the Killerwhale is associated with family, power, strength, dignity and communication.
