Inuit Native Artist Annie Naulalik Qappik from Pangnirtung

Pangnirtung

Annie Naulik Qappik is an embroiderer and printmaker from the Arctic hamlet Pangnirtung on Baffin Island in the territory of Nunavut. She started her artistic explorations in her youth when she would embroider wall hangings.

Annie is quite active in her community and works collaboratively with other artists to further explore her own work and also complete larger group projects. Recently she and group of Pangnirtung artists completed a mural for the town’s airport.

The Uqqurmuit Centre has taken some of her original drawings and turned them into wall tapestries and prints. Opportunities like this help to further Annie’s career and push her work to the next level.

Annie’s art is a stunning reflection of the ancient lands on which she and her people have lived on for millenniums.
