Ekidlua (Ikkidluaq) Teevee

Inuit Native Artist Ekidlua Teevee from Cape Dorset

Cape Dorset

Ekidlua (Ikkidluaq) Teevee was born in 1984. His mother, Ningiukulu Teevee, is one of the most prolific of the recent artists contributing to the Cape Dorset print collections. Through he sometimes sits by his mother as she draws, he does not draw himself. Ekidlua started carving at the age of 14, learning from Napachie Ashoona, the adopted son of his great-uncle Kiuwak Ashoona.

Ekidlua enjoys making carvings that are out-of-the-ordinary or unusual, and particularly enjoys making conceptual work.
