Jimmy Iqaluq

Jimmy Iqaluq was born in 1947 and currently resides in Sanikiluaq, situated in the Belcher Islands in Hudson Bay. Jimmy is the son of carvers Mina and Samwillie Iqalua and thus carving has always been an integral part of his life. Inuit Art is born of various regional styles; the Sanikiluaq is famous for its Arctic wildlife representations, particularly those of birds and marine mammals. Attention to minute details illustrates this artist’s unique skills and creativity.
