Lloyd Wadhams Jr.

Northwest Coast Native Artist Lloyd Wadhams Jr. from Kwakwaka'wakw Nation

Kwakwaka’wakw Nation

Lloyd Wadhams Jr. was born to Lloyd and Virginia Wadhams in 1967 at Alert Bay, British Columbia, Canada off the northeastern coast of Vancouver Island. He is a member of the Kwakwaka’wakw nation and belongs to a prestigious family who were prominent and proven master carvers. Thus, he reveals that it was only natural that he follows in their footsteps, beginning with wood carving as a teenager.

After spending a number of years perfecting his wood carving, Lloyd has progressed to carving silver and gold jewelry. Not only does Lloyd take pride in preserving the style of his ancestors, but he also enjoys pushing the boundary of his artwork. Many of his pieces retain traditional concepts but possess a contemporary flair through his unique metal combinations. Consequently, he has been successful at setting himself apart and he has been rewarded with praise. Currently, Lloyd resides in Vancouver and relies on his artwork for his livelihood.
