Mona Brown

Northwest Coast Native Artist Mona Brown from Heiltsuk Nation

Heiltsuk Nation

Born in 1979, Mona Brown has lived most of her life in Bella Bella, British Columbia.  She was taught the art of weaving from her mother Shirley Brown, who in turn learnt from her great grandmother, Sarah Hall.

Mona uses the inner bark of the Cedar Tree for her creations, as her mother and great grandmother also did.  She creates baskets, earrings, bracelets and hair barrettes.
