Peter Aningmiuq
Kimmirut
Peter Aningmiuq resides in Kimmirut, Nunavut (formerly known as Lake Harbour). In the 19th century, Lake Harbour was a thriving whale station site on south Baffin Island.
The whaling industry was responsible for the long history of carving production and, by the late 1960s, Kimmirut earned itself a reputation for the naturalist carving of animals and spirit beings by talented artists, such as Peter Aningmiuq.
