Qavavau Shaa
Cape Dorset
Qavavau Shaa was born May 31, 1964 in Cape Dorset, the largest art producing community in the Arctic. He was the son of the well-known sculptor, Axangayu Shaa, and had many other family members who worked as artists. His mother, Kilabuk, and his brothers, Pudlalik and Alariaq, are also carvers and painters. Although Qavavau passed away at the young age of just 27, his artwork can still be found in galleries across Canada, and in private collections around the world.
