Steve Hansen
Nisga’a Nation
Steve Hansen was born in 1971 in Prince Rupert, BC. His father was from Masset, Haida Gwaii and his mother from the Nisga’a village New Aiyansh.
Steve began carving in the 1990s and trained with Nisga’a artist Geo McKay in fundamental carving practices. He has been carving for over 20 years and has a particular interest in portrait art. He works in various mediums including acrylic paints, graphite, metals, and wood.
Currently Steve works out of Vancouver, BC, where he continues to carve and has started to design jewelry. As an internationally recognized artist, Steve’s artworks are coveted by collectors.
