Timothy Ezekiel

Inuit Native Artist Timothy Ezekiel from Cape Dorset

Cape Dorset

Tim Ezekiel was born in Cape Dorset on August 12th, 1991. He is the son of Tony Curley, an established artist who has been carving for more than thirty years, and the brother of emerging carver Tommy Ezekiel. Tim and his brother began learning to carve from a young age under the guidance of their father. As a result, all three artists have a very similar style.

Tony Curley’s work is heavily influenced by Arctic wildlife, particularly birds and bears. These two animals have featured prominently in his work over the years. He carves primarily in serpentine or marble, and strives to capture a feeling in each sculpture he creates.
