Cloud and Text Original Painting by Northwest Coast Native Artist Corrine Hunt

A̲nwa’yi (Cloud)

Acrylic paint on Board

2021

Unframed

This painting is a small tribute to the clouds that Corrine can see from the window of her studio as she works. Her studio faces the beach by her home, so she often finds herself looking out of the window as she works on new pieces. Corrine often finds the clouds to be a source of inspiration for her art, hence why she decided to dedicate a painting to them.

The painting features the Kwak’wala term for “Cloud” across the centre of the piece, with cloud-like forms surrounding it. Corrine also chose to use graffiti-style text for this painting. She is very fond of the style, finding it to be a highly open and expressive form of art.
