Rick Adkins was born in 1955 in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, and currently lives in Vancouver.
He began his studies with Frieda Diesing and master Haida artists Bill Reid and Robert Davidson. He is well-recognized for his exceptional and stylized jewelry creations in precious metals. His work is influenced by his teachers and by years of studying anatomical drawings and classical art history.
Many of his pieces have appeared in various exhibitions in Canada and been presented in private and corporate collections throughout North America.
The Frog symbolizes luck, prosperity, stability and healing. As a communicator, Frogs connect with the world on land and under water. This figure is often carved into totem poles to prevent them from falling over.
