Description | Born October 12, 1970 in Alert Bay, British Columbia, Ross Henderson is from the Kwakwaka’wakw Nation He comes from the large Henderson family of artists who originate from Campbell River as well as the Whonnock family from Fort Rupert where Ross currently resides. Ross was inspired by his great-grandfather Gidion Whonnock and influenced by his brother Jonathan Henderson so began carving as a young teenager in tandem with a large circle of family members and friends. He began his career in 2002 and has worked often with Trevor Hunt – his style is traditional and he primarily creates paddles and masks. |
